Job summary

CHI St. Alexius Health is seeking a Communications Switchboard Coordinator to oversee all switchboard operations and lead Communications Operators across locations in Bismarck, ND.

You will train staff, coordinate with IT to maintain essential communication systems, and analyze data to drive performance improvements, fostering a positive, service-oriented environment. The role requires strong leadership, technical proficiency with communications equipment, and a track record of improving service

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent with either 1 year of related experience or 5+ years of directly related work experience.
• Strong knowledge of switchboard operations and organizational communication strategies.
• Excellent time management, record-keeping, and verbal/written communication skills; proficient with switchboard and telecommunications tech; able to present complex issues clearly.

Responsibilities

• Operations Oversight: Manage the telephone switchboard and communications staff across locations, ensuring 24/7 service delivery.
• Team Leadership: Direct daily operations, scheduling, performance goals, feedback, and staff development.
• Training & Customer Excellence: Lead in-house training on communication standards and customer service, and implement strategies to improve internal and external satisfaction.
• System & Directory Management: Collaborate with IT to oversee phones, pagers, and hospital directories for reliable functionality.
• Cross-Departmental Coordination: Manage on-call schedules and act as primary liaison between departments to resolve service issues.
• Strategic Administration: Lead departmental meetings, maintain documentation, and support organizational goals.
