Job summary

CBRE Government & Defense Services in Twentynine Palms seeks a Stationary Engineer / Boiler Plant Operator to run and monitor high-pressure steam boilers, chillers, and central utility plant equipment for hospital and specialized facilities.

You will maintain logs, perform inspections, and report deficiencies to ensure uninterrupted, safe utility services in a 24/7 operation. Required licenses include a Stationary Engineer license and EPA Universal Certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of five (5) years operating, maintaining, and repairing centralized boiler and chiller equipment.
• At least three (3) years in a large central utility plant with >500 boiler horsepower and 400 tons centrifugal chiller capacity.
• Experience supporting hospitals or similar critical facilities.
• Knowledge of high-pressure steam boiler systems, chillers, pumps, and distribution systems.
• Working knowledge of central plant DDC systems.
• Understanding boiler safety, inspections, testing, and deficiency reporting.
• Ability to maintain accurate operational logs and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor high-pressure steam boilers, chillers, and central utility plant equipment in a 24/7 environment.
• Monitor boiler pressure, water levels, temperatures, fuel, and pumps.
• Perform hourly, four-hour, eight-hour, and shift inspections and document results.
• Identify leaks, malfunctions, abnormal conditions, and safety hazards.
• Conduct boiler blowdown and verify feedwater makeup per procedures.
• Perform weekly low-water fuel cutoff testing and monthly safety valve testing.
• Maintain logs of readings, inspections, test results, deficiencies, and conditions.
• Report deficiencies and safety concerns to Government representative and COR as needed.
• Coordinate with maintenance personnel and subcontractors to minimize interruptions.
• Communicate status during shift transitions and follow safety/site protocols.
