Job summary

Leonardo DRS in Cypress, CA is seeking a 12–14 week Summer Software Engineering Intern to support real-time embedded software development and testing on a hands-on internship in a collaborative environment.

You will work with experienced engineers on an Electro Optical Infrared Systems program and gain exposure to ARM, DSP, FPGA hardware, and Windows/Linux tooling, all while contributing to documentation and system requirements discussions.

Qualifications

  • Degree(s) Required: Associate’s Degree or 3rd Year status minimum in an Engineering curriculum.
  • Degree(s) Preferred: Pursuing undergraduate, Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA.
  • Must be able work onsite in Cypress, CA

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of computer software using real-time operating systems
  • Provide regular reporting of progress and status
  • Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices

Support engineering staff by performing research, design support, documentation and support of testing of real-time, embedded and analytical computer software applications and/or systems. Develop documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance, as well as, interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

The salary for this position is $28/hour. This rate reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
