Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking a construction intern to assist with inspections and measurements at the Osage Beach Project Office. The role supports verification of contract conformance under supervision, with night work possible.

You will help coordinate inspections, assist with routine field tasks, and prepare estimates and plans. The position emphasizes learning and teamwork while contributing to MoDOT's safety and efficiency goals.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an ABET-accredited bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
• Have completed 30 credits toward the current degree program.
• Maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist with coordinating and performing construction inspections verifying that contractors' activities are in compliance with contracts, specifications, and engineering principles.
• Assist inspectors with routine inspection items such as asphaltic or portland cement concrete plants, paving, grading, base, small bridges, culverts, utility adjustments, signing, traffic signals and lighting.
• Assist with measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, contractor payment estimates, and engineering costs.
• Provide field checks for contractor surveying operations; assist party chief on routine layout and staking.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Enrolled in a relevant ABET-accredited bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
• 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
• Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.
