Job summary

Eversource Energy is offering a summer Accounting internship in Berlin, CT and Westwood, MA for motivated students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. The role provides hands-on experience with monthly closings, regulatory filings, and financial analysis.

You will work with MS Office, Excel, and the mainframe accounting system, contributing to cost loading developments and research on accounting issues. Preference given to students who have completed their junior year.

Job Description

• Assist in preparation of SEC, Federal Regulatory Commission and state regulatory filings
• Assist with the review and analysis of month end financial statements and reports
• Participate in the monthly accounting closing cycle including preparation of journal entries and analysis and reconciliation of accounts
• Develop corporate cost loading rates
• Assist in the research of accounting issues as identified

The Company uses a number of tools to accomplish these tasks including, Working with the Company’s integrated mainframe accounting and budgeting system Working with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word

Candidates should possess excellent communication, judgment, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of accounting theory is required. Individuals should be proficient in the use of MS Office applications, and have a strong interest and desire to learn and apply computer applications. Candidate should be in the process of pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in accounting; preference will be given to students who have finished their junior year.
