Job description

Job Description

Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School is seeking an experienced and skilled Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our team in a part-time capacity. This is a 2-3 day per week position serving our K-7 school community in Worcester. We are looking for a candidate who brings clinical expertise, a collaborative spirit, and a genuine commitment to supporting students with emotional, behavioral, and autism spectrum needs in an inclusive, high-expectation school environment. We welcome candidates who reflect the cultural diversity of our community.

Who We Are

Worcester Cultural Academy (WCA) is a growing charter public school that opened in August 2023 with a vision of becoming a K-8 community. We launched as a K-4 school and have added a grade every year since - this fall we welcome our first 7th graders.

As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that challenges students to grow in three dimensions: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work. We partner with organizations like the EcoTarium, Worcester Art Museum, and Hanover Theater and anchor our curriculum in Learning Expeditions that make learning meaningful and real. Every student - including those who need the most support - deserves access to that kind of learning, and our BCBA plays a critical role in making that possible.

What You’ll Do
Direct Student Support
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) for students with emotional, behavioral, and autism spectrum needs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) with clear goals, measurable outcomes, and regular data review
  • Provide direct support to students as needed, modeling strategies and building students' capacity for self-regulation and positive behavior
  • Collaborate with special education teachers and related service providers to ensure behavior supports are integrated into each student's IEP and overall plan
  • Monitor and analyze behavioral data, adjusting plans based on student progress and emerging needs
  • Attend IEP meetings and present behavioral data and recommendations for team review
Staff Consultation and Capacity Building
  • Serve as a consultant and thought partner to teachers, special educators, and instructional aides
  • Provide training, modeling, and coaching to staff on evidence-based behavior strategies, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed practices
  • Guide instructional aides and paraprofessionals in implementing BIPs consistently and with fidelity
  • Support teachers in building classroom environments and routines that are proactive, structured, and conducive to all learners
  • Collaborate with school leadership on school-wide behavior systems and culture initiatives
Family and Team Partnership
  • Partner with families in a culturally responsive and empathetic way, centering their knowledge of their child and building trust across cultural and linguistic differences
  • Participate in IEP meetings, contributing behavioral expertise and communicating clearly about student progress and supports
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation including FBAs, BIPs, and progress data in compliance with state and federal requirements
  • Communicate proactively with your supervisor and school leadership, ensuring alignment and transparency
What You Bring
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing
  • Massachusetts licensure as a BCBA (or eligibility for licensure)
  • Experience conducting FBAs and developing and implementing BIPs in school settings
  • Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder and emotional and behavioral needs
  • Strong consultation and coaching skills - you can build the capacity of the people around you, not just work directly with students
  • Experience collaborating with special education teams, general education teachers, and paraprofessionals
  • Comfort with data collection, analysis, and using data to drive decision-making
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with families, staff, and students across a range of identities and backgrounds
  • Flexibility and professionalism in a part-time, school-based role
