Job summary

The Carlyle Group is seeking a 2-Year Analyst to support financial analysis, reporting, process improvement, and technology initiatives within its U.S. Real Estate team in Washington, DC. You will leverage Excel, data analytics, and AI tools to automate recurring tasks and build scalable solutions for business users.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, real estate, economics, business, data analytics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Strong academic record; GPA of at least 3.5 preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, consulting, reporting, data analytics, real estate, or technology-enabled process improvement.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis, data modeling, and working with large or complex datasets.
  • Hands-on experience using modern AI tools to support analysis, automation, or software development.
  • Ability to work with software developers to translate business needs into technical requirements and test delivered solutions.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The 2-Year Analyst will support financial analysis, reporting, process improvement, and technology initiatives across Carlyle's U.S. Real Estate business. The Analyst will use strong Excel and analytical skills, along with modern AI and automation tools, to improve recurring processes, enhance reporting, and develop solutions for business users.


The Analyst will work with members of the U.S. Real Estate team and software developers to translate business needs into practical technology solutions, test new functionality, and support implementation. This is a unique opportunity for an early-career professional interested in the intersection of finance, real estate, data analytics, and technology.


The Analyst will support reporting and analysis across the U.S. Real Estate portfolio, including asset-level operating performance, valuations, debt, acquisitions, dispositions, and fund-level performance. This work will draw on data from internal systems, financial models, property managers, and third-party providers.



In-Office Requirement:

4 days per week



Primary Responsibilities


  • Support recurring reporting across the U.S. Real Estate portfolio, including valuations, asset-level operating performance, debt, dispositions, acquisition activity, and fund-level performance

  • Build, maintain, and analyze Excel-based financial and data models

  • Analyze quarter-over-quarter changes in investment performance and valuations to identify the drivers behind those changes

  • Aggregate, validate, and reconcile information received from investment teams, financial models, and reporting systems

  • Prepare analyses, presentations, and reporting materials for senior management

  • Assist with ad hoc financial, operational, and investment-related analyses



Process Improvement and Automation


  • Identify opportunities to simplify and automate recurring financial, reporting, and operational processes

  • Use modern AI and automation tools to improve data analysis, reporting, and workflow efficiency

  • Develop and maintain tools that improve data quality, reduce manual work, and provide business users with better access to information

  • Document processes and apply appropriate review and quality-control procedures to AI-generated analyses, automated workflows, and reporting outputs

  • Help measure the impact of process improvements and automation initiatives



Business and Technology Development Support


  • Work with business users and software developers to translate business needs into clear and actionable requirements

  • Support testing and implementation of new functionality and confirm that delivered solutions meet business requirements

  • Use AI-assisted development tools to support rapid prototyping, analysis, and application development

  • Communicate technical concepts and system functionality clearly to business users



Data Analytics and Special Projects


  • Develop dashboards, visualizations, and analyses that provide insights into investment and portfolio performance

  • Assist with data extraction, transformation, and modeling from multiple systems and sources

  • Support other strategic, reporting, and technology initiatives as requested by senior management

  • Support the evaluation and integration of third-party data sources and reporting tools



Requirements

Core Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, real estate, economics, business, data analytics, computer science, or a related field

  • Strong academic record; GPA of at least 3.5 preferred

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, consulting, reporting, data analytics, real estate, or technology-enabled process improvement

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis, data modeling, and working with large or complex datasets

  • Hands-on experience using modern AI tools to support analysis, automation, or software development.

  • Ability to work with software developers to translate business needs into technical requirements and test delivered solutions

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly motivated, intellectually curious, and able to learn and apply new technologies quickly



Preferred Qualifications


  • Exposure to finance, accounting, real estate, or investment performance concepts, including IRR, equity multiples, cash flow analysis, or property-level operating metrics

  • Experience with financial reporting, performance analytics, dashboard development, or data visualization tools

  • Familiarity with commercial real estate valuation software or third-party valuation data

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and AI tools integrated with Excel

  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, cloud data platforms, version control, or similar data and development tools

  • Exposure to agentic AI workflows, APIs, system integrations, or internal application development



Benefits/Compensation

The compensation range for this role is specific to Washington, DC and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.


The anticipated base salary range for this role is $100,000.


In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
