1st Shift Schedule:
Mon-Wed: 6:00am-6:00pm
Thurs: 6:00am-11:30am
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Assure all safety policies are consistently followed at all times and assist in the preparation of any new safety policies.
- Possess a strong understanding of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Train, direct, and help manage the activities of production staff. Create and participate in training programs/communications for improvement in current processes and for new manufacturing equipment.
- Provide leadership and direction for shift manufacturing employees as directed by management and in accordance with Neogen policies. Own and track daily KPI performance (OEE, production rates, defects).
- Quality Defect Rate – Measure and address nonconformance issues.
- OEE Improvement – Maximize machine uptime and efficiency.
- Assign personnel to specific production lines maximizing resources and cross training personnel.
- Troubleshoot and solve production equipment and material flow issues in innovative ways.
- Occasionally operate material handling equipment including but not limited to forklifts, pallet jacks and barrel handlers.
- Develop and/or modify new and existing work instructions. (SOP’s)
- Direct inventory control through work order reconciliation, spot checking inventory, and conducting count backs.
- Assist with identifying areas to improve efficiency. Progressively research and occasionally implement production line, packaging, and formulation changes to gain efficiency and quality.
- Provide input to the continuous development and maintenance of the production schedule. Provide assistance and leadership for other projects and duties as assigned by manufacturing management.
- Hold daily Tier 1 accountability meetings (safety, quality, production).
- Utilizes documented coaching and dialogued conversations to give professional evaluations and developmental feedback to their direct reports that aligns with the Neogen culture.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
At least 5-10 years of supervisory experience, especially in a production environment or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Work Environment

The employee occasionally works near moving parts and is occasionally exposed to cold and warm conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, though earplugs must be worn in specified areas. Airborne dust and product aromas/smell is typical.
