Job summary

Central Plains Steel is seeking a 1st shift Shipping & Receiving professional for Plant 1 in Wichita. You will load/unload trucks, verify orders, and coordinate with delivery and purchasing teams to meet safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals.

Requirements include a valid driver’s license, ability to perform heavy work (lifting up to 100 lbs), basic math/reading skills, and a HS diploma preferred. On-site role with full benefits, training, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• Must meet Level 4 (Heavy Work) for physical exertion.
• 0-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education.
• Adequate manual dexterity and finger dexterity.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
• Basic measurement skills and math computations.
• Basic arithmetic and decimals/fractions conversion.
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 60 pounds repetitively.
• Ability to stand for sustained periods.
• Ability to push/pull 80 pounds.
• Able to go up/down off truck trailers repeatedly.
• Temperatures >100°F or <32°F.
• Develop good working relationships with supervisors/colleagues.
• Certification to operate motorized material handling and rigging equipment required.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Complete basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions.
• Pulls and assembles orders based on shipping documents.
• Coordinate and execute material handling.
• Perform quality control inspections.
• Sort and package parts as directed.
• Tag material for proper identification and documentation.
• Complete work order paperwork.
• Operate yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane.
• Spot check inventory and ensure proper tagging.
• Report irregularities to supervisor.
