Job summary

Olympic Steel is seeking a Production Lead (1st shift) in Kenton, OH to oversee loading/unloading, ensure documentation, and support quality checks. The role involves moving materials between facilities using overhead cranes and yard equipment and coordinating with the shipment schedule.

The position emphasizes safety on the warehouse floor and teamwork, with opportunities to train others. Prior experience with stainless, carbon steel, and aluminum, plus blueprint reading, is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
• ERP experience preferred.
• Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, yard trucks and various operations equipment.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work both independently and with a team of diverse individuals.
• Ability to plan and schedule to meet customer needs.
• Ability to lead and train other employees.
• Experience with stainless and carbon steel as well as aluminum strongly preferred.
• Mig, Tig and Flux core experience preferred.
• Ability to read/interpret blueprints and schematics strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload material for shipments and verify paperwork.
• Assist with quality checks and outgoing paperwork.
• Transport materials between buildings using overhead cranes, yard trucks, etc.
• Communicate production needs based on shipment schedule.
• Act as safety liaison on the warehouse floor.
