Job summary

Weiss-Aug, a leading precision manufacturer in Elk Grove Village, IL, seeks a Material Handler to transport and load materials, supplies, and finished goods using forklifts, pallet jacks, or by hand, while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.
  • At least five years of forklift driving experience.
  • Certified forklift operator.
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, distribute, and store products in designated, secure locations.
  • Prepare and maintain records of materials received/shipped, including dates and locations.
  • Review shipments for quality and accuracy; verify accompanying documents.
  • Expedite shipments that affect the production schedule.
  • Transport and load materials using forklift, pallet jack, or hand cart.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and dispose of scrap material properly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

We're currently seeking a passionate and skilled Material Handler to join our team and contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality, engineered solutions to our customers worldwide. In this role you will be responsible for transporting and loading materials, supplies, and finished goods using a forklift, electronic pallet jack, hand pallet jack, or carry by hand.


Requirements


  • Receives, distributes, and stores products as directed in designated, secure locations.

  • Prepares and maintains records of materials received/shipped including dates of transactions, locations, and other information.

  • Reviews shipments for quality and accuracy; reviews accompanying documents for accuracy.

  • Confirms shipping details or special instructions; expedites shipments that affect the manufacturing process schedule.

  • Transport and loads materials, supplies, and finished goods using a forklift, electronic pallet jack, hand pallet jack, or carry by

  • hand.

  • When problems arise internally, material handler will resolve issues or make corrections.

  • Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintains a safe and clean work environment.

  • Prolonged periods sitting on a forklift Prolonged periods of standing while sorting.

  • Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds at a time.

  • Must wear safety gear, such as goggles and gloves, when handling box cutters or similar tools.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



  • 5 years of experience driving a forklift

  • Been certified as a forklift driver

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Understands instructions and has the ability to follow through on those instructions.

  • Good math and written communication skills.

  • Must be proficient on a computer and is able to learn proprietary software.

  • Efficient time management skills.


Education:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or other formal training in related field preferred.

  • At least five years of related experience required.


This position is at our Elk Grove Village, IL location.


Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00
