Job summary

Mrs. Gerry's Kitchen, LLC in Albert Lea, MN is hiring a 1st Shift Machine Operator 1 to operate and maintain equipment on the South side of the plant and ensure products meet quality and safety standards.

The role is on-site, with a 6:00 AM start and a Monday–Friday schedule. Wage starts at $20.50 per hour, and candidates must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and obtain forklift/pallet jack certification as needed. Join an operations team focused on safe, high-quality production.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals in English.
• Ability to perform basic calculations using calculators for units of measure (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
• Must be able to obtain forklift and/or pallet jack license and lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow MGK HACCP, SQF, SOP, and SSOP programs.
• Comply with all Food Safety procedures and wear PPE.
• Set up, sanitize, wash down and break down machinery per SOPs.
• Ensure correct product labeling and weight per specification.
• Box and palletize products and assist with other duties as assigned.

About the Role

1 st Shift Machine Operator 1 will be responsible for understanding and operating assigned equipment located on the South side of the plant. They will ensure products are packaged to Mrs. Gerry’s quality and safety standards.

What You'll Do

• Learn and follow all MGK HACCP, SQF, SOP, and SSOP programs.
• Always Comply with all Food Safety procedures.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Set up, sanitize, wash down, and break down machinery per standard operating procedures.
• Ensure all lids, containers and box labels represent the product being filled.
• Ensure weight of each container of salad per product specification.
• Verify all dates and product names on product and boxes.
• Utilize and adjust metal detectors.
• Box and palletize products.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), 1-3 months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend documentation in English including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Utilize calculators to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to obtain forklift and/or pallet jack license.
• Ability to lift and/or carry occasionally up to 40 pounds.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll be part of a collaborative operations team focused on producing safe, high-quality products. You’ll report to the Day Supervisor and work closely with Team Leaders and cross-functional departments to keep production running efficiently.

This role requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting (occasionally lifting of up to 40 pounds). Employees must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in production areas.

This position is based in a food manufacturing facility where employees may be exposed to wet or humid conditions, moving machinery, cleaning chemicals, airborne particles, varying temperatures, and moderate noise levels. PPE is required in all production areas.
