Job summary

University of Dubuque seeks a skilled Dispatcher to serve as the central communication hub for the Department of Safety and Security. You will receive and coordinate responses to emergency and non-emergency calls, manage radio and telephone communications, and dispatch security personnel across campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with phone systems, computers, surveillance cameras, and radios is preferred.
• Ability to maintain accuracy and stay organized in a fast-paced dispatch environment.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls promptly and professionally, gathering and documenting information for appropriate response.
• Coordinate with departments or officers for follow-up and issue resolution.
• Operate and manage a multi-line telephone system.
• Direct officers to sites using radio, phone, or computer.
• Prioritize calls based on urgency and maintain logs and records.
• Process access requests through the controlled access program.
• Fill in as a security officer for foot patrol as needed.
• Perform other duties to support the University's mission.
