Job summary

WM (Waste Management) is seeking an Assistant Diesel Mechanic at our Tulare, CA location. You will work Monday to Friday, 6:00am–3:00pm, with occasional Saturdays, in a repair/maintenance shop setting.

You’ll inspect, diagnose and repair diesel trucks and equipment serving millions of customers, using modern tools and procedures to ensure safety and reliability. The role requires automotive experience, possession of tools, a valid driver’s license, and ability to attend a two-week training

Responsibilities

• Inspect and diagnose trucks and equipment to ensure reliable service.
• Perform repairs following standard labor times and safety procedures.
• Document parts usage and repair times; complete required paperwork.
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns and perform safety checks.
• Support senior mechanics and participate in project work.

The hours and location you'll work as an Assistant Diesel Mechanic with WM:

• Monday - Friday every week
• 1 st Shift 6:00am-3:00pm
• Occasional Saturdays

What you'll do as an Assistant Diesel Mechanic at WM:

Each day you'll fix the trucks and equipment that service over 20 million customers across the USA. As an Assistant Diesel Mechanic you can take pride in watching a truck roll out of the shop, knowing your local community will be supported by your hard work. Our mechanics take their careers to the next level by working on equipment that requires a high level of skill - and determination. You'll be using modern tools and procedures to deliver exceptional maintenance on both diesel equipment and, at some locations, on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.

Here’s more about what you’ll do:

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Safety checks on vehicles - the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
• Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

What do you need to be considered for the role of Assistant Diesel Mechanic:

• A valid driver's license, with a clean driving record
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
