Job summary

Great Hearts Academies seeks a 1st Grade Lead Teacher for the Prairie View Lower School. The role shapes students' hearts and minds within a welcoming, nurturing classroom and utilizes Spalding Phonics, Singapore Mathematics, and literature-rich content.

You will be supported by an Assistant/Apprentice Teacher and participate in ongoing professional development, with focus on cultivating truth, goodness, and beauty in learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role.
• Certification is not required for general education.
• All majors are welcome.
• US Work Authorization Is Required.
• Employment is contingent upon successful background check and fingerprint clearance.
• Travel may be required for training and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, creating thoughtful lessons and an orderly, joyful classroom environment.
• Provide academic support to students, monitor progress, and collaborate with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs.
• Uphold Great Hearts culture, dress code, and safety procedures, fostering a respectful school environment.
• Communicate clearly with families and schedule conferences as needed to build strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate in faculty collaboration, school events, and ongoing professional growth.

About The K-5 Teacher Role

• As a Homeroom Teacher you provide a welcoming and nurturing classroom that guides students to build a deep sense of wonder and a love of learning.
• Curricular elements include Spalding Phonics, Singapore Mathematics, as well as rich content in History, Science, and Literature.
• As a Homeroom Teacher you enjoy the support of an Assistant/Apprentice Teacher in your classroom.

• Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Required/Preferred Education
