Job summary

Clark Personnel is seeking a Credit Assistant to join a growing and dynamic team in Saraland, AL. This full-time, direct-hire role offers a pay of $15.50 per hour with standard business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities include handling orders via multiple channels, managing a high call volume, monitoring shipping timelines, and assisting customers with pricing and delivery information. High school diploma and customer service experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute (typing test required).
• Strong math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, percentages).
• Customer service experience preferred; phone-based customer service a huge plus.

Job Description

• Take orders via phone, fax, mail, and email for samples, broadloom, luxury vinyl flooring, and coordinating trim
• Handle a high volume of incoming calls each day (up to 120-150 calls)
• Monitor orders to ensure shipping occurs within 24-48 hours
• Handle custom color orders, strike-off requests, custom contracts, and specialty backing/cove base orders
• Verify accounts, provide pricing and delivery information, and resolve customer issues
• Check stock for current, dropped, and promotional products; reserve carpet for orders
• Provide product specifications, including pattern repeat, weight, pile height, and density
• Convert measurements and pricing across units (e.g., square yards to linear feet)
• Follow up with customers regarding order status and verify order details
• Collaborate across departments to ensure excellent customer service

Position Requirements

• Hard skills: Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute (typing test required); strong math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, percentages); ability to convert measurements and pricing across units
• Soft skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; pleasant, patient, and professional phone manner; excellent listening and comprehension skills; strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities; dependable with a positive attitude; able to work independently under minimal supervision and manage a heavy workload
