Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Med/Surg 4 West unit. The part-time night shift runs approximately 7pm to 7am, on a 24-bed inpatient unit focused on acute adult medical/surgical telemetry care.

The role supports licensed nurses, helps with admissions/discharges, and ensures patient safety through careful observation and reporting. Required education includes a high school diploma or equivalent, with BLS certification due within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program or CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Navy Hospital Corps School or EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT or clinical program enrollment in RN/LPN/RT/PT.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nurses with patient care tasks under supervision.
• Support admissions and discharge processes and maintain patient safety practices.
• Observe patients for changes and report to the supervising nurse promptly.
