Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a full-time Nursing Assistant to support patient care on the Med Surg unit. The role includes 3 12-hour night shifts per week (6:30pm-7am), rotating weekends and holidays, and delivering compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities cover assistance with activities of daily living, vital signs, patient transport, and collaboration with nursing staff to ensure safety and comfort. Requires CNA certification and CPR within 6 months, with preference for bilingual candidates.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and follow instructions as required.
• Good communication skills.
• Courteous and professional interpersonal skills.
• Basic math calculation skills.
• CPR (Heart Saver) certification within 6 months of employment.
• Certification as a Nursing Assistant by the State of Illinois.
• Bi-lingual skills desirable.

Responsibilities

• Introduces self and role to patient at start of shift and provides water when appropriate.
• Responds to call lights and transfer information to RN.
• Assists with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, and mobility.
• Transports, positions, and assists with patient handling as directed.
• Performs vitals, intake/output, and reports abnormal values to nurse.
• Maintains a clean, safe patient environment and adheres to infection control policies.
