Job summary

IDEA Public Schools in Houston is looking for a dedicated teacher to drive student achievement by delivering the IDEA curricula, aligning to state standards, and promoting college readiness for every student. You will plan thoughtfully, assess progress, and collaborate with families to support growth.

You’ll implement weekly lesson plans, communicate progress, and participate in school-wide activities, ensuring an equitable, high-expectation learning environment for all scholars.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• K-12 classroom experience strongly preferred.
• State certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
• Learn, master, and deliver content and grade level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts.
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
• Implement formal and informal assessments to track each student’s progress and needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly.
• Communicate students’ progress with student and family on a weekly basis.
• Effective use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve achievement.
• Establish a clear behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives.
• Help shape a school-wide culture fostering a productive learning environment.
• Host tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs.
• Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, and school-wide events.
