Job summary

Shelton School District seeks a Para Educator - Special Education (1:1) at Shelton High School for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports students with IEP goals, assists teachers, and helps maintain a positive learning environment.

The position is 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, temporary with possible extension. Applicants must meet education requirements, pass background checks, and complete district training; prior experience with developmental disabilities is a plus.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework or AA degree required.
• Pass a federal background check.
• Complete 28 hours of district training in the first year.
• Experience with students with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Excellent communication and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with instructional activities and classroom routines.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and support for students.
• Help manage classroom behavior and safety.
• Prepare and organize classroom materials and supplies.
• Record keeping and clerical tasks as needed.
