Job summary

Bethel School District 403 is seeking a paraeducator to support mainstream special education students in a 1:1 and small-group setting. You will assist certificated staff, monitor student progress and supervise activities to promote safe, productive learning.

The position requires a HS diploma or higher, completion of state paraeducator requirements, and training such as Right Response within months of hire. On-site at Kapowsin Elementary.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Paraeducator requirements include completion of the state Paraeducator Certificate Program or equivalent.
• Right Response training within 3–5 months of hire.
• Fundamental Course of Studies (FCS) and General Paraeducator Certificate where funded.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated staff with instructional and non-instructional activities for mainstream special education students.
• Instruct students individually or in small groups and monitor progress.
• Supervise student activities and maintain discipline per district policy.
• Maintain records, logs, charts and materials for assessment of progress.
• Communicate with staff, parents and the public about student progress and safety.
• Provide assistance to students with personal needs and safety as required.
