Job summary

Henry County Public Schools’ Drewry Mason Elementary in Ridgeway, Virginia seeks a Special Population Paraprofessional (1:1) to support students with disabilities. The role requires assisting with instructional activities, managing the classroom environment, and ensuring safety and adherence to IEP goals.

Under the supervision of the principal, you will work with teachers to implement instructional plans, monitor student progress, and provide personal care support as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or 48 college credits or ParaPro exam pass.
• Equivalent education/experience accepted.
• Knowledge of child development and special education basics.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Computer skills for data entry and word processing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning a program of study aligned with IEP.
• Meet and instruct students at designated times/locations.
• Modify instructional plans to meet all students’ needs.
• Maintain records and follow procedures.
• Monitor use and care of equipment and facilities.
• Follow district policies and safety procedures.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene needs as required.
• Participate in staff development and Safety Care training.
