R. H. Conwell Elementary School - Worthington, Massachusetts is seeking a part-time Special Education Paraprofessional to support a nonverbal student with individualized educational and behavioral needs in a school setting.

The role includes direct 1:1 support, assisting access to classroom instruction, helping with AAC-based communication, following IEPs, and collaborating with the ABA team and family to promote independence and success at school.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; paraprofessional certification preferred.
• Ability to work patiently and positively with a nonverbal student.
• Willingness to learn and consistently use the student’s communication system, including AAC.
• Strong teamwork, communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow individualized educational and behavioral plans consistently.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct 1:1 support to the student throughout the school day.
• Assist the student in accessing classroom instruction, assignments, and activities.
• Support communication using AAC devices, pictures, gestures, or sign language.
• Follow the student’s IEP and behavioral support plans.
• Collaborate with ABA consultant to implement behavioral strategies.
• Collect and document behavioral and educational data as directed.
• Use positive reinforcement and promote independence and transition support.
• Monitor safety and well-being throughout the school day.
• Participate in meetings and training with the classroom team and related providers.
