Beachwood Elementary-JBLM in Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA is hiring a Special Education 1:1 Para. This role supports students with significant emotional/behavioral and/or physical disabilities, providing direct instruction, behavior management, and essential personal care.

Expected shift is 7:30am - 2:45pm; starting immediately. The position may involve responsibilities at elementary or secondary levels, with the intent to support the assigned student(s) in achieving Individualized Education

Competenze

• High school diploma or its recognized equivalent (GED) and must meet one of the following: passing score on approved assessments, associate degree or higher, 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher, or completion of a paraeducator apprenticeship.
• Two years of successful work experience with special education students.
• Requires knowledge of classroom/behavior management techniques, special education terminology, lifting, toileting and feeding techniques, restraint techniques and verbal de-escalation.

Mansioni

• Assist students with hygiene, including suctioning and personal needs, such as lifting, toileting, washing and feeding, including G-tube; prepare and administer interventions and medication under supervision.
• Assist with student transport and transitions.
• Support behavior management techniques and implement educational and vocational instruction.
• Assist with IEP preparation and monitor due process timelines under the teacher's direction.
• Maintain and prepare materials and assist with data entry and reporting as required.
