Job summary

Clover Park School District’s Thomas Middle School in Lakewood, Washington is seeking a Special Education 1:1 Paraeducator. The role supports students with significant emotional/behavioral and/or physical disabilities, providing instruction and daily care under a special education teacher.

Responsibilities include behavior management, preparation of materials, and assisting with IEPs. Shift runs 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with a total of 191 work days per year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one of: passing board-approved assessment; associate degree or higher; 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher; or apprenticeship as paraeducator.
• Two years of successful work experience with special education students.
• Board approved assessments: ETS ParaPro, Pearson Paraprofessional, Master Teacher Inc.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, behavior management, materials prep and primary care for students with special needs.
• Assist with hygiene, lifting, toileting, feeding and related tasks.
• Support transportation, transitions and supervision during school activities.
• Assist with IEP preparation, data collection and documentation under the teacher's direction.
