Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant (1:1) for ASD support at Armatage for the 2025-2026 school year. This role involves assisting students with disabilities, implementing individualized lessons, and supporting staff under supervision.

Requirements include college credits or ParaPro plus HS diploma, plus experience with children; CPI/First Aid may be required within one year. Transportation may be needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of 90 quarter/60 semester college credits or higher.
• Passing score of 460 on the ParaPro Assessessment AND a high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience working with children; more education may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide support services to children with moderate to severe disabilities and assist staff in delivering individualized lessons.
• Assist students in learning through reinforcement of positive behavior and clear communication.
• Monitor activities, de-escalate confrontations, and maintain behavior documentation for IEPs and FBA.
