Job summary

Two years of SPED experience is preferred, and Wisconsin SPED certification is required with CPI certification as applicable. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to assist with health and feeding needs as part of daily routines.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience working with students; higher preference for those with SPED programming experience.
  • Wisconsin Special Education certification is required prior or after placement. CPI certification is required prior or after placement.
  • Candidates should be able to work with students with varying needs and implement IEP goals.

Responsibilities

  • Work with SPED students based on IEP needs and assist other students as needed.
  • Provide information to teachers for instruction and reinstruction.
  • Work with students to match learning styles and reinforce concepts.
  • Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments.
  • Anticipate and intervene in potential behavioral issues using de-escalation techniques.
  • Maintain order in classrooms and assist with daily routines.
  • Assist with feeding needs of students and supervise during meals, breaks, and transitions.
  • Supervise students during class transitions, breakfast, lunch, recess, and bus loading.
  • Implement seclusion and restraint procedures per IEP using de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Support student participation in classroom activities and health-related needs.
  • Must have physical stamina to stand, lift up to 50 pounds and perform moves as required.
