Job summary

Green Park Elementary in Walla Walla, WA is seeking a Special Education 1:1 Para-Educator for the REACH Program. The role supports certificated staff with instructional tasks, behavior management and daily student care.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with AA degree or 72 credits preferred, and experience with students in educational settings. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; training on de-escalation and safety procedures may be provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• AA Degree or 72 college credits, or ability to pass Para-Educator test.
• Experience working with students in an educational setting or interest in supporting learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support for IEP students including sensory, motor, communication, pre-academic, academic and vocational curriculums.
• Provide support and structure for students needing behavior control.
• Provide one-on-one support for multiple handicapped students.
• Assist certificated staff in maintaining records, developing materials and teaching aides.
• Assist students in developing functional skills leading to independence.
• Operate computer and assistive technology equipment.
• Assist with personal hygiene needs of students.
• Lead small group activities and communicate regularly with parents.
