Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools’ WyEast Middle School in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Special Education 1:1 Paraeducator Bus Duty to support students on the home-to-school run. The role involves assisting the driver with loading/unloading wheelchairs, ensuring safety, and completing required paperwork.

The position is 1:1 support, temporary, 190 days per year, with salary steps based on the district classification; benefits apply for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise students and work with behaviorally disabled students preferred.
• Must possess personal characteristics of flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness, and confidentiality.
• Experience with documenting paperwork related to transportation and behavior management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Assist the bus driver in loading and unloading wheelchair-bound students on and off the bus.
• Establish and maintain a positive climate for students during transport.
• Ensure safety of students during transport and emergencies.
• Complete daily behavior management forms and submit to supervisor.
• Implement and monitor behavior plans per IEP.
• Attend conferences with administrators, parents, and students as needed.
