Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools — York Elementary School in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Special Education 1:1 Paraeducator Bus Duty. The role supports a 1:1 student on the regular home-to-school run, assists with loading/unloading wheelchair-bound students, and helps implement behavior plans per IEP.

This part-time position operates on short daily windows and requires collaboration with the Transportation Supervisor and building staff. Eligible staff receive district benefits and leave provisions.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise students.
• Must possess personal characteristics of flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness, and confidentiality.
• Most possess physical strength and ability to assist bus driver in loading and unloading wheelchair-bound students.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Assist the bus driver in loading/unloading wheelchair-bound students.
• Help establish and maintain a positive climate during transport.
• Be aware of surroundings to ensure student safety.
• Complete daily student behavior management forms and submit to supervisor.
