Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years of experience working with students; higher preference for those with experience with students who require Special Education programming.
• CPI certification required prior or after placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Work with special education students based on IEP needs, and assist others as needed.
• Provide information to teachers for instruction and reteaching.
• Support students in learning styles and pace.
• Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments.
• Anticipate and intervene to prevent dangerous or injurious behaviors.
• Maintain classroom order and supervise students during meals, transitions, and arrivals/departures.
• Assist with feeding needs of students as necessary.
• Follow district procedures for seclusion and restraint using de-escalation techniques when required by IEP.
• Encourage and promote student participation in classroom activities.
• Provide support for primary personal and health care needs of students.
