Job summary

Newton Software is hiring Direct Support Professionals in Shakopee, Minnesota to provide 1:1 support to individuals in structured home environments, following detailed service plans and maintaining professional boundaries. You will assist with ADLs, monitor health and behavior, and help with routines, transportation, and community participation.

Overnight and weekend shifts may be required; DHS background checks are part of the role.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years or older.
Valid driver’s license.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
Ability to provide hands-on care.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to follow structured service plans.
Professional boundaries and reliability required.
Must pass DHS NetStudy 2.0 background check.

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on assistance with ADLs (dressing, hygiene, toileting, mobility, meals)
Support structured daily routines and independence goals
Monitor health, seizure activity, and behavioral changes (as assigned)
Implement positive support and de-escalation strategies
Assist with meal preparation and light household tasks
Support community participation and transportation needs
Complete accurate and timely SOAP documentation
Follow incident reporting and emergency protocols
