Job description

The Vehicle Systems & Chassis Control Test Engineer is responsible for the validation, verification and vehicle-level assessment of ICE and BEV vehicle programs. The role focuses primarily on vehicle systems, chassis control and ECAS (Electronically Controlled Air Suspension) functions.

The engineer will work closely with software developers, system engineers, calibration teams, program engineers, prototype build teams, workshop, service and plant personnel to ensure that developed functions operate according to the relevant system and software requirements.

The responsibilities are outlined below:

  • Plan, coordinate and execute vehicle-level software tests for new vehicle programs' prototype vehicles and vehicles in serial production.
  • Review system requirements and software requirements to define appropriate vehicle test cases, test conditions and acceptance criteria.
  • Identify the availability and configuration of prototype vehicles and reserve suitable vehicles for testing based on their hardware and feature content.
  • Perform functional testing of vehicle systems and chassis control functions under different vehicle conditions and operating scenarios, by providing test instructions and coordinating data collection.
  • Connect to vehicles, collect and analyze CAN data, and provide real-time technical guidance during vehicle testing.
  • Use relevant automotive tools such as ETAS INCA, MATLAB/Simulink, Vector CANalyzer/CANoe and AVL CRETA for measurement, diagnostics, data acquisition and analysis.
  • Support software flashing activities and ensure that test vehicles are equipped with the correct and approved software level before testing.
  • Track the software and calibration status of each test vehicle and maintain special software levels or vehicle-specific configurations.
  • Perform or support vehicle calibration activities, including pressure sensor, height sensor and axle load calibrations by using the required automotive tools.
  • Understand software developers’ test requests in detail.
  • Analyze test data against system and software requirements, document test results and report outcomes as pass or fail.
  • Investigate failed test cases by reviewing vehicle data, software behavior, calibration parameters, requirements.
  • Resolve issues or coordinate the necessary actions with the responsible engineering teams.
  • Support troubleshooting of field, workshop, plant and customer vehicle issues by performing on-vehicle investigations and collecting the required data.
  • Act as a technical interface between the SW developers and the Eskişehir plant by filtering and addressing issues locally whenever possible.
Experience
  • Professional experience in automotive engineering, vehicle testing & calibration or diagnostics.
  • Hands‑on experience with vehicle testing, data acquisition, troubleshooting or software validation is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of CAN bus communication and practical experience with CAN-based vehicle networks.
  • Knowledge of J1939, automotive diagnostics and vehicle communication protocols.
  • Basic understanding of model based software, system & software requirements and vehicle-level verification.
  • Basic knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and experience with automotive test and measurement tools such as ETAS INCA, Vector CANalyzer/CANoe or AVL CRETA.
  • Interest in or knowledge of vehicle control systems, suspension systems, chassis control and ECAS functions.
  • Knowledge of ICE and BEV vehicle architectures and the related differences in vehicle systems is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of functional safety, cybersecurity and ASPICE is a plus.

Needed Training & Certificates
  • Training or certification in CAN bus, J1939 and automotive diagnostics is an advantage.
  • Training in ETAS INCA, Vector CANalyzer/CANoe, AVL CRETA or similar automotive measurement and calibration tools is a plus.
  • ISO 26262 Functional Safety, Automotive SPICE and Automotive Cybersecurity training or certificates are considered an advantage.
Projects & Accomplishments
  • Not mandatory – Experience or knowledge in automotive diagnostic tools, CAN bus/J1939 communication, vehicle testing, software flashing, vehicle data collection, calibration activities, ECAS, suspension/chassis control systems experience is a plus.
