Job summary

DİTAŞ Deniz İşletmeciliği ve Tankerciliği A.Ş. seeks a Technical Safety Manager to lead the Quality and Technical Safety Department and drive OHS compliance across vessels and shore operations.

You will oversee the Integrated Management System, risk management, CAPA processes and regulatory licenses, reporting to the Head of Technical Safety and Quality while guiding crews in safety culture across the fleet.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Certified Internal Auditor and/or Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems (ISO 14001 certification is an asset).
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Class A Occupational Safety Specialist.
  • Proven experience in high-hazard industries or very hazardous workplaces.
  • Thorough knowledge of Turkish Occupational Health and Safety legislation and internationally recognized HSE standards.
  • Experience in maritime operations, tanker industry, ISM Code, SIRE and TMSA processes will be considered an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Experience in Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001) implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in leading internal and external audits and managing regulatory compliance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate OHS Committee meetings and activities; coordinate mandatory OHS training and monitor health examinations.
  • Plan, coordinate OHS training, awareness and employee engagement; monitor HSE KPIs and dashboards.
  • Monitor changes in legislation/regulations and ensure timely communication to office and fleet; coordinate compliance actions.
  • Manage application, renewal and compliance of vessels Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) licenses.
  • Investigate incidents and CAPA, communicate lessons learned across the fleet.
  • Oversee the Integrated Management System and update procedures, drive standardization and continual improvement.
  • Maintain Corporate Risk Management System; update risk registers and support risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate onboard Safety Meetings and initiatives to strengthen safety culture across fleet.
  • Plan emergency drills, HSE meetings, training sessions; organize benchmarking with other tanker operators.
  • Reports directly to Head of Technical Safety and Quality.

DİTAŞ Deniz İşletmeciliği ve Tankerciliği A.Ş. was established in Istanbul on March 16, 1974 by TPAO, İPRAŞ and the Turkish Naval Foundation to provide domestic and international maritime transportation of crude oil and petroleum products.

The Turkish Naval Foundation was transformed into TAFF-Turkish Armed Forces Foundation and İPRAŞ was transformed into TÜPRAŞ-Türkiye Petrol Rafinerileri A.Ş.

The legal structure of the company has undergone changes in the course of time and was transferred to the Privatization Administration on 25.11.1993. Ditaş became a subsidiary of TÜPRAŞ in October 2002.

With the acquisition of 51% of TÜPRAŞ shares by Enerji Yatırımları A.Ş. on January 26, 2006, Ditaş became a part of Koç Group.

We are looking for a Technical Safety Manager to join our Quality and Technical Safety Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Committee meetings and activities, ensuring full compliance with applicable OHS legislation; coordinate mandatory OHS training programs based on hazard classifications and monitor periodic occupational health examinations.
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee OHS training, awareness and employee engagement programs; monitor Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) performance indicators and prepare periodic management reports and KPI dashboards.
  • Monitor changes in national and international legislation, industry regulations and customer requirements; ensure timely communication of regulatory updates to the office and fleet and coordinate actions required to maintain compliance.
  • Manage the application, renewal, extension and ongoing compliance of vessels Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) Transportation Licenses.
  • Monitor, investigate and analyze incidents, accidents, hazardous occurrences and near-miss reports from vessels and shore-based operations; ensure timely completion of investigations, follow-up of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and effective communication of lessons learned across the fleet.
  • Manage and continuously improve the Integrated Management System (IMS); ensure effective implementation of management system requirements throughout the organization, maintain controlled documentation, update manuals, procedures and forms, and drive standardization and continual improvement.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Corporate Risk Management System by reviewing and updating the corporate risk register, facilitating risk assessments and supporting the implementation of effective risk mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate onboard Safety Meetings and lead initiatives that strengthen the company's safety culture, including safety campaigns, safety bulletins, newsletters, behavioural safety initiatives and the sharing of best practices across the fleet.
  • Plan and coordinate emergency response drills, HSE meetings, training sessions and seminars for both shipboard and shore-based personnel; maintain associated records, monitor corrective and preventive actions, and organize benchmarking activities with other tanker operators to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Reports directly to Head of Technical Safety and Quality
Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, root cause analysis, Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes and HSE Management Systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of Turkish Occupational Health and Safety legislation and internationally recognized HSE standards.
  • Experience in maritime operations, tanker industry, ISM Code, SIRE and TMSA processes will be considered an advantage.
