Job summary

Constructor is building an all-in-one platform for education and research, seeking a senior backend engineer with a strong Rust background and deep Python experience. You will design scalable microservices, shape data models, and help evolve our distributed services used by educational organisations worldwide.

The role covers collaborating across QA, DevOps, and product teams, implementing robust APIs with Rust and FastAPI, and driving reliability, observability, and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• 3+ years of Rust production experience.
• Strong Python with FastAPI, asyncio, and type-driven development (mypy, pydantic).
• Deep knowledge of microservices, async messaging, and data modeling.
• PostgreSQL mastery: indexes, transactions, isolation, and query plans.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, networking, and CI/CD.
• English B2 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services in Rust within a microservices architecture.
• Maintain and evolve Python services (FastAPI) where appropriate.
• Write maintainable, testable, and performant code; participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with QA and DevOps to improve reliability, observability, and performance.
• Contribute to architectural decisions: language choices, inter-service communication, data modeling.
