RESPONSIBILITIES
- Owning and maintaining the safety and quality management system for flowride.ai: the safety lifecycle (ISO 26262, ISO 21448, ISO 22737, UL 4600), cybersecurity governance (ISO/SAE 21434) and the process quality framework (ISO 9001, Automotive SPICE), tailored to a Level-4 ADS and to the way the company actually works.
- Planning safety and quality activities for every project and release - scope, work products, gates, resources and timing - track them to completion, and escalating clearly when a release is not ready to ship.
- Acting as ADASTEC's primary interface to external safety assessors, independent consultancies, technical services, certification bodies and type-approval / regulatory authorities: agreeing assessment scope and evidence expectations, running audits and assessments, and closing findings.
- Managing the safety and quality relationship with the OEM and integration partners (e.g. the bus platform OEM): interface and vehicle-level safety requirements, development interface agreements, joint hazard analysis, and field issue handling.
- Owning the safety case - its argument structure, completeness and consistency - and making sure the evidence produced by the engineering teams is traceable and defensible in front of a third party.
- Supporting field safety and quality across deployed sites
- Leading the Safety and Quality studies; defining its structure, workload and development plan.
- Reporting safety and quality status, risks and open issues to executive management on an agreed cadence.
- Providing safety and quality input to tenders, customer documentation, and operational safety agreements with transit operators and site owners.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from reputable universities in engineering - Electrical & Electronics, Automotive, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Computer/Software or Control Engineering. Havind a MSc degree is an advantage.
- Having the below certificates:
- ISO 26262 Functional Safety Manager / Engineer certification (TÜV SÜD or equivalent) - preferred
- ISO 21448 (SOTIF) training - preferred
- ISO/SAE 21434 Automotive Cybersecurity training - preferred
- Automotive SPICE Provisional Assessor (intacs) - preferred
- Having 8+ years of significant experience in automotive or another safety-critical domain, especially in ADAS/AD, autonomous vehicles or robotics.
- Minimum 2 years of team leadership or end-to-end process ownership is a must.
- Experience working in a fast-paced start-up or scale-up environment is preferred. Proven, hands-on experience engaging directly with regulatory authorities, technical services, or independent assessors is a mandatory requirement for this position.
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
- Proficiency in additional languages, such as German or Dutch, is considered an advantage.
- Solid working knowledge of the automotive safety landscape - ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ISO 22737, UL 4600, ISO/SAE 21434 - and of how these are applied to a Level-4 ADS rather than to a conventional ECU.
- Familiarity with the approval routes for automated vehicles (EU Implementing Regulation 2022/1426, relevant UNECE regulations, national testing and exemption permits) and with how technical services and approval authorities actually operate.
- Process quality: ISO 9001 and Automotive SPICE, audit and assessment management, CAPA, requirements traceability, configuration and change management.
- Enough system-level understanding of an ADS - sensing, perception, planning, control, redundancy, fallback and minimal risk condition, ODD definition - to challenge engineers and to defend design decisions in front of an assessor.
- Able to structure, write and argue a safety case.
- Strong planning, prioritization and project management skills; comfortable running several external workstreams in parallel.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills in an international, multicultural setting; able to be the company's face in front of an authority, an assessor or an OEM.
- Comfortable in a start-up environment where the process has to be built while the product is being built, and pragmatic about what is proportionate.
