Job summary

Carbon Health seeks a Tech Lead - Platform Engineer in Ankara to guide the technical direction of the core platform, its services, and infrastructure. You will set architectural direction, ensure reliability, and write/ review code alongside the team.

In a JVM-based microservices environment on AWS, you’ll focus on availability, data integrity, and security while mentoring engineers and shaping scalable, observable systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing, building, and operating backend or distributed systems.
• 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Strong experience with microservice architectures on AWS.
• Proficiency in at least one JVM language (Kotlin, Scala, or Java).
• Hands-on with gRPC and RPC design between services.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical work on building and scaling Carbon Health's core platform.
• Drive architectural decisions for highly available backend systems.
• Shape service communication: gRPC contracts, timeouts, retries, idempotency.
• Design event-driven workflows with reliability patterns.
• Own IaC and Terraform standards; ensure reproducible environments.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines for fast, safe production changes.
• Define SLOs and observability with metrics and tracing.
• Lead incident responses and blameless post-mortems.
• Mentor engineers and promote ownership and quality software.
