Job summary

SGS & Co is seeking a Quality Control Operator to safeguard the integrity of packaging artwork across digital files. You will perform detailed QC checks, verify content, colour and printability, and ensure compliance with brand guidelines and client specs.

Qualifications

• 5 years of packaging artwork, prepress, print production, or related experience.
• Strong knowledge of packaging artwork and print production processes.
• Solid understanding of prepress requirements and the technical specs for print.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong quality mindset.
• Ability to independently identify, investigate and resolve technical/artwork issues.
• Excellent IT skills and experience with artwork/workflow systems.
• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Automation Engine or similar workflow systems.
• Ability to interpret technical specs, client guidelines and printer requirements.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration, especially with Artwork Operators and Project Managers.
• Proactive and solution-oriented approach; able to challenge quality/production issues.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.
• Flexibility across different clients, brands and processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed quality control checks on digital packaging artwork files for accuracy across content, colour, setup and printability.
• Review artwork against QA guidelines, client specs and briefs to resolve issues before production.
• Proofread artwork content and verify accuracy and consistency of information.
• Ensure files comply with client brand guidelines and corporate standards.
• Review images and colour to reflect the approved brief and brand requirements.
• Assess artwork against printer specifications and technical requirements.
• Apply knowledge of printing processes and packaging prepress to identify risks and suggest solutions.
• Collaborate with Artwork Operators and Project Managers to resolve issues.
• Provide technical guidance to Artwork Operators on complex artwork queries.
• Ensure artwork is prepared for the intended printing process and production environment.
• Be proficient with Adobe Acrobat and Automation Engine; use effectively.
• Maintain understanding of client quality requirements and extend knowledge to other accounts.
• Demonstrate brand awareness and contribute to overall quality across products.
• Support implementation of the Hero Process and relevant quality/workflow procedures.
• Take ownership of workload and meet deadlines with quality.
• Work collaboratively to ensure clear communication and a right-first-time approach.
• Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve quality and efficiency.
