The Role
Position title: Merchant Acquisition & Management Manager
Merchants are at the heart of our business. We're looking for a Manager to own the full merchant lifecycle: finding and signing the right manufacturers and brands, getting them live quickly and smoothly, and growing their business on Hiccup. You'll run the merchant portfolio like a business owner. You'll set the acquisition strategy, lead a team of associates and work closely with our tech team to build the tools and processes that let us manage hundreds of merchants efficiently.
The role suits someone who has built strong problem-solving and commercial skills in VC, consulting, investment banking or a high-growth startup, and now wants direct operating ownership of a business.
What You'll Do
- Own merchant acquisition end to end. Build the pipeline, find high-potential manufacturers and brands, run negotiations and close partnerships that fit our category and market priorities.
- Lead onboarding so it's fast and frictionless. Make sure every merchant gets through account setup, catalog upload, pricing and go-live with zero defects and minimal back-and-forth.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of merchant accounts. Be their main strategic partner, help them understand how Hiccup works (demand signals, pricing, assortment, campaigns, fulfilment) and turn that into higher sales.
- Own merchant performance KPIs such as GMV, sell-through, catalog quality, time-to-live and retention. Spot underperformance early and run action plans with merchants.
- Design creative, tech-enabled solutions. Identify bottlenecks in how we acquire, onboard and manage merchants, write clear requirements and work with the tech team to ship tools, automations and dashboards.
- Build and coach a team of Merchant Associates. Set clear goals, review performance and raise the bar on execution.
- Report on the merchant business to leadership with dashboards, weekly reviews and clear recommendations on where to invest.
What We're Looking For
- 3–4 years of experience in venture capital, management consulting, investment banking, or a fast-growing startup or scaleup.
- A strong analytical and structured problem-solving foundation. You can break down a business, find the levers and build the model behind a decision. Advanced Excel/Sheets required, SQL and BI tools a plus.
- Commercial instinct and confidence with business owners. You can pitch, negotiate and build lasting relationships with founders, manufacturers and brands.
- A product and tech mindset. You naturally see how a process could be automated or tooled, and you can translate that into clear requirements for engineers. Working literacy in LLMs and AI tools is a plus.
- High ownership and a bias for action. You want to move from advising to operating, you finish what you start, and you treat the merchant P&L as your own.
- Experience leading or mentoring a team, or a clear readiness to do so.
- Experience with marketplaces, e-commerce or B2B platforms is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Turkish.
- Ability to work from our Maslak, Istanbul office and travel to merchants when needed.
What We Offer
- A key seat in building the merchant side of a global commerce infrastructure during a period of exponential growth
- Direct mentorship from the founding team
- Real operating ownership and accountability from day one, with no slide decks for someone else to execute
- Competitive salary and a clear path to senior leadership as the company scales
- A fast-paced, collaborative environment that rewards initiative and creative thinking
