Job summary

Apilex, an AI-native legal operating system, is hiring a Litigation-focused Legal Engineer. You'll ensure the platform aligns with litigators' workflows, turning legal judgment into concrete product improvements and working with multiple teams to enhance accuracy and reliability.

You’ll run structured tests, trace model errors to prompts, and help educate the litigation team and clients on how to use the platform effectively.

Qualifications

• Must be a qualified lawyer with 4–5 years of experience.
• Litigation/disputes practice background strongly preferred.
• Comfortable working hands-on with prompts and AI tools.
• Sharp eye for where legal reasoning breaks down in outputs.
• Clear communicator who can translate legal problems into product-ready fixes.

Responsibilities

• Run structured test scenarios across legal workflows, including pleadings and case analysis.
• Trace errors to prompts and agent logic; revise prompts to prevent recurrence.
• Develop fluency in prompts and agents and ensure changes propagate to outputs.
• Advocate for the litigation practice inside Apilex and coordinate with product teams.
• Contribute to demos and training illustrating the platform for litigation workflows.

About the role

As a Litigation-focused Legal Engineer at Apilex, you'll make sure our platform actually holds up to how litigators work in practice. You'll bring real practice judgment to bear on where an AI output would embarrass a litigator and where it would save them hours, and turn that judgment into concrete product improvements.

What you'll do

• Run structured test scenarios across Apilex's workflows, including pleadings, case analysis, document/evidence review, and deadline and case-file tracking, and pinpoint where outputs are legally wrong, incomplete, or misleading
• Trace errors back to their source: read the underlying prompts and agent logic, understand why the model produced that output, and revise the prompt/agent configuration so the error doesn't recur
• Build a working fluency in how prompts and agents are structured and how changes to them propagate to outputs; this isn't optional depth, it's core to the role
• Act as the litigation practice's advocate inside Apilex. When other teams or clients flag a litigation-side idea or gap, you assess its legal soundness and, if valid, hand it to product
• Contribute to demos and training that show litigation teams concretely how the platform fits their workflow

What we're looking for

• Qualified lawyer with 4-5 years of experience
• Litigation/disputes practice background strongly preferred (external litigation experience or relevant in-house dispute-handling experience both welcome)
• Comfortable working hands-on with prompts and AI tools, or genuinely motivated to build that skill quickly. You'll be expected to reach a level where you can teach it to others
• Sharp eye for where legal reasoning breaks down in a written output, and the patience to test systematically rather than spot-check
• Clear communicator who can translate a legal problem into a product-ready fix
