Job summary

Apilex is an AI-native legal operating system that manages lawyers' entire legal workflows end to end, powered by AI systems purpose-built for each jurisdiction's legal framework. We currently operate in France, Turkey, and Germany, and we aim to extend growth to Brazil, Spain, and Italy.

We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to design and scale the high-traffic microservices that form the backbone of our global legal AI platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend experience building and scaling Java/Spring Boot applications.
• Strong architecture skills including OOP and SOLID principles.
• Hands-on with PostgreSQL and MongoDB, designing hybrid data architectures.
• Deep knowledge of Elasticsearch for high-performance search and indexing.
• Experience with messaging: RabbitMQ or Kafka and Redis.
• Solid WebSocket and real-time streaming architecture experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms and building automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to ship high-quality code and iterate quickly.

• Scalable Architecture: Design and develop high-traffic, scalable microservice architectures to support our expanding global footprint.
• Code Excellence: Raise the bar on code quality by leading code review processes and implementing best practices across the backend.
• Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship to the engineering team and guide technical decision-making for complex features.
• System Integration: Build and maintain reliable integrations between core services, AI agents, and large-scale data stores.
• Performance Optimization: Ensure system reliability and low latency across distributed services through efficient caching and messaging strategies.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of backend experience building and scaling Java and Spring Boot applications in production
• Strong foundation in software architecture design including OOP and SOLID principles across various scales
• Hands-on experience with both PostgreSQL and MongoDB including the ability to design hybrid data architectures
• Deep knowledge of Elasticsearch or similar technologies for high-performance search and indexing
• Practical experience with messaging systems like RabbitMQ or Kafka and in-memory caching with Redis
• Solid understanding of WebSocket and real-time streaming architectures for distributed environments
• Direct experience with cloud platforms and building automated CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to ship high-quality code and iterate quickly rather than waiting for perfect conditions
