Job summary

Ford Otosan in Turkey seeks a seasoned automotive wiring harness design engineer to join the Electrical Distribution Systems team. You will contribute to development, design and validation of electrical distribution systems for Ford Trucks, with a focus on 3D harness design and packaging.

You will design wiring harness components, define fixing strategies, manage changes, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and support prototype builds on site to ensure cost, quality and timing targets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of automotive wiring harness design experience (mechanical and electrical).
• Experience with CATIA-based layout design.
• Competence in Zuken E3, Mentor Graphics, Capital HarnessXC and VeSYS.
• Siemens Teamcenter and Vismockup knowledge preferred.
• Strong communication, negotiation and teamwork in Turkish and English.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design and validate electrical distribution systems for Ford Trucks.
• Perform 3D harness design and packaging per EDS rules.
• Design wiring harness components (shields, grommets, brackets).
• Define harness fixing and covering strategy.
• Handle change management and track design changes across teams.

• Align with AIM, E2KS and release processes.

Job description

• Part of a team that is responsible for development, design and validation of electrical distribution systems for various Ford Trucks projects


• Is responsible for 3D harness design and packaging according to EDS design rules and requirements


• Is responsible for designing wiring harness related components (shields, grommets, brackets etc.)


• Defines harness fixing and covering strategy.


• Handles change management: Follows up Program Direction Letter changes to understand the effects, works with x-functional teams, creates Design Change Requests, performs part releases into the system.


• Complexity management: Defines complexity drivers, buildable combinations, give away features, forms complexity as manageable harness level counts & optimum average vehicle cost effect.


• Supports project meetings, project launches & onsite support, updates/reworks management at prototype builds if necessary.


• Follows AIM, E2KS & and release process.


• Manages and directs suppliers to support robust program delivery.


• Supports launch onsite for prototype vehicle build mechanical signoff and issue management if needed.


• Responsible for creating an EDS design that supports Cost, Quality and Timing targets.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of automotive wiring harness design experience (mechanical and electrical)


• Competence in design tools such as Zuken E3, Mentor Graphics, Capital HarnessXC, VeSYS etc.


• Experience on CATIA based layout design


• Siemens Teamcenter and Vismockup knowledge preferred


• Knowledge of product development quality tools and methods

Education

• B.Sc. degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronic, Controls Engineering


• Interested in designing and developing vehicle electrical systems and wiring harness


• Strong communication, negotiation & influencing and teamwork skills both in Turkish and English
