As a Flavorist, you will be responsible for creating, developing, and optimizing innovative flavor formulations by combining scientific expertise with creativity and a deep understanding of sensory perception. You will play a key role in developing commercially successful flavor solutions that meet customer expectations, market trends, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
Working closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Application, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Sales, you will support projects from concept through commercialization while ensuring product quality, consistency, and technical excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop innovative flavor formulations in line with customer briefs, market needs, and internal project requirements.
- Design flavor systems considering sensory performance, stability, process compatibility, functionality, and cost optimization.
- Utilize a broad portfolio of natural and synthetic raw materials, flavor modifiers, enhancers, and masking technologies where appropriate.
- Optimize existing formulations based on customer feedback, manufacturing requirements, and sensory evaluations.
- Conduct organoleptic evaluations, sensory analysis, comparative testing, and participate in internal and external tasting panels.
- Support product optimization throughout laboratory development, pilot production, and commercial scale-up.
- Monitor global market trends, consumer preferences, and emerging flavor technologies to identify innovation opportunities.
- Translate customer briefs, market insights, and regional preferences into commercially viable flavor solutions.
- Explore new raw materials, formulation technologies, and delivery systems to enhance product performance and differentiation.
- Contribute to innovation projects, concept development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Sales, and Application teams throughout product development.
- Provide technical support during customer presentations, workshops, product demonstrations, and project discussions.
- Participate in pilot trials, production scale-up activities, and process optimization while ensuring flavor consistency and product quality.
- Act as a technical expert in flavor-related discussions with internal stakeholders and external customers.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure formulations comply with applicable regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, formulation records, and technical reports.
- Contribute to product specifications, technical documentation, and regulatory dossiers where required.
- Follow company procedures, quality standards, and best practices while ensuring timely project completion.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Flavor Technology, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in flavor development.
- Strong knowledge of flavor raw materials, aroma chemistry, sensory science, and formulation principles.
- Experience in developing and optimizing flavor formulations across different applications.
- Good understanding of flavor stability, processing impacts, and ingredient interactions.
- Familiarity with international regulatory requirements related to flavor ingredients.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional and multicultural teams.
- Strong sensory acuity and excellent olfactory memory.
- Experience with analytical techniques such as GC-MS, Headspace Analysis, or other flavor analytical tools.
- Knowledge of digital formulation systems and flavor databases.
