Infina is seeking a Director of Engineering – Core Platforms to lead engineering teams, set the technical roadmap, and modernize core platforms. You will collaborate with Product and Architecture to deliver high-availability systems, guide the move from monolith to microservices, and ensure security and regulatory compliance.

The role requires deep hands-on expertise in the Java ecosystem, distributed systems, and large-scale platform modernization in a regulated domain, with strong stakeholder

Director of Engineering – Core Platforms

Infina is a leading financial technology company, providing software solutions for portfolio management, brokerage, and capital markets. It serves financial institutions with platforms covering investment management, trading, back-office operations, and related financial services.

The role

We are looking for an engineering leader who combines deep technical judgment with strong people leadership.

What you will do

• Lead engineering teams end to end; people, delivery and production health.
• Own the technical roadmap for modernizing our core platforms, working closely with Product and Architecture.
• Partner with Architecture to shape the integration architecture between core systems and own its implementation across engineering teams
• Guide the incremental move from monolith to microservices without disrupting business-critical operations.
• Establish engineering standards: automated testing with diff-coverage gates, postmortems and runbooks, capacity planning and epic-level estimation that feed quarterly decisions.
• Drive the responsible adoption of AI-assisted development under clear security, confidentiality and code-review guardrails, with accountable human review and approval.
• Ensure delivery meets regulatory and security requirements

What you bring

• 15+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years leading engineering teams
• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to align Engineering, Product, Architecture, QA and DevOps around shared priorities.
• Experience building and running business-critical, high-availability systems, preferably in financial services.
• Strong hands-on experience with the Java ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Redis and Kafka.
• Proven experience designing, building and operating microservices architectures in production, including service decomposition, inter-service communication and observability.
• Hands-on depth in distributed systems and event-driven architecture
• A track record of migrating monoliths to microservices incrementally while keeping production stable.
• Ownership of production; incident management, root-cause analysis and operational discipline.

Nice to have

• Direct experience in capital markets, brokerage systems or trading platforms.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted or agentic software development workflows.
• Experience leading large-scale platform modernization or system integration initiatives spanning multiple products.
• Experience working in regulated industries with demanding security, audit and business-continuity requirements.
