Job summary

Thiam Building Construction Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks a dedicated Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) to uphold the WSH Act and related regulations. The role includes leading SWP/RA/SWMS development, conducting site safety inspections, and enforcing safety policies across projects.

The ideal candidate has a Specialist Diploma in WSH, MoM approval, and at least 5 years of WSHO experience in construction, including interior fit-out or A&A projects, with strong knowledge of WSH laws and ISO

Qualifications

• Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health or related qualifications.
• Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer with the Ministry of Manpower.
• Minimum 5 years’ work experience as WSHO in the construction industry, preferably with prior experience involved in interior fit-out and/or A&A projects.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore’s WSH legislation, codes of practice, and ISO standards (45001, 14001 & 9001).
• Skilled in risk assessment, incident investigation, safety auditing, and training delivery.
• Familiar with CONSASS.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and statutory requirements in accordance with the WSH Act, MOM & BCA regulations, and industry Codes of Practice.
• Lead the development and review of Safe Work Procedures (SWP), Risk Assessments (RA), and Safe Work Method Statements.
• Conduct regular and ad-hoc site safety inspections, audits, and walkthroughs to identify hazards and unsafe practices.
• Stop unsafe work when necessary and advise on remedial actions and take immediate corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate hazards.
• Report and investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date WSH documentation including training records, RA registers, inspection checklists, safety reports, and incident logs.
• Conduct site safety inductions, facilitate toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and emergency drills.
• Conduct safety committee meetings and safety audits for management reporting and provide guidance to the members in carrying out their safety duties.
• Liaise with authorities, external and internal stakeholders on safety matters.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining the company-wide Environmental, Health and Safety Management System.
• Involve in ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and bizSAFE implementations and audits.
• Proactively collaborate with relevant stakeholders to review and improve safety processes in line with industry best practices and promote a strong safety culture.
