Job summary

HSBC Life Singapore is seeking a driven Vice President, High Net Worth Underwriting to lead advanced underwriting for ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients across Asia-Pacific. You will assess medical, financial and residency factors and exercise judgement within the company’s underwriting framework.

You will partner with clients, reinsurers and internal teams, mentor junior underwriters and contribute to product development and process improvements to stay competitive.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of underwriting experience in life insurance with at least 5 years in HNW
• University Degree or professional designation (ALU, FALU) preferred
• Proven ability to manage complex cases and make sound decisions under pressure
• Strong understanding of medical, non-medical and financial principles and practices
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical, financial and compliance assessment in accordance with underwriting guidelines and risk framework
• Oversee referrals for ultra large risks and manage total exposure with reinsurers
• Build and maintain relationships with partners to resolve underwriting queries
• Train and develop junior underwriters and contribute to quality audits
• Review and refine medical/financial/residency guidelines to stay competitive
• Provide underwriting insights for new product development and broader initiatives
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows
