Job summary

Volvo Group in Singapore is seeking a hands-on logistics professional to own freight cost control, transporter performance and day-to-day transport operations.

The role involves analyzing freight spend, managing Logistics Service Providers, supporting RFQs and new implementations, coordinating to optimise ordering and reduce CO2, and driving digital reporting within the CS TS team at Distribution Center Singapore.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience (>5 years).

We are looking for a hands-on logistics professional to own freight cost control, transporter performance and day-to-day transport operations. The role involves analysing and reducing freight spend, managing Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), supporting Request for Quotations (RFQs) and new implementations, coordinating to optimise ordering and reduce Vehicle Off-Roads (VORs) and CO₂, and driving process automation and digital reporting within the Customer Service & Transport Solutions (CS&TS) team at Distribution Center Singapore (DC Singapore).

• Proactively conduct freight spend/cost analysis, trend analysis, and monitor performance and identify improvement potentials.
• Drive improvement activities connected to transportation spending.
• Conduct the verification of the transporter invoices and manage the submission to Finance department.
• Conduct freight review with Business Areas on a timely basis.

Logistics Service Provider (LSP) Management

• Participate in the relevant RFQ’s for transporter selection, securing the best Cost/Value. Work in conjunction with the buyers for the implementation of new transporters.
• Participate in the implementation of any new strategic projects related to transport.
• First Escalation Channel for Transport related topics.
• Closely coordinate with the relevant Business Areas to secure ideal ordering and freight behavior to reduce CO2 and freight cost.
• Day to Day management and the escalation of the urgent Vehicle Off-Road (VORs) orders to secure the earliest Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA).
• Responsible for the regular analysis of the VORs. Work in conjunction with the dealers and supply planning to reduce VORs.
• Responsible for the tracking and management of Inbound Containers, air shipments from the Central Distribution Centers (CDCs), dealer returns.
• Responsible for tracking performance, highlighting deviations, and conducting deviation analysis for the Inbound flows.

Process Automation & Digitalisation

• Implement the relevant technologies to automate processes within the Customer Services & Transport Solutions (CS&TS) team.
• Create and maintain the relevant digital dashboards for reporting or analysing purposes.
• Align with Key User/CS&TS Lyon & International network on best practices and bring forth to the Regional Disitrbution Center (RDC).

Others

• Using Volvo Performance System methodologies for problem-solving
• Any other projects or tasks as assigned by the Manager or Management Team

Essential Experience, Skills, and Competencies

• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant working experience of more than 5 years.
• Strong customer and dealer focus, with a commitment to delivering excellent service and supporting business success.
• Collaborative team player who works effectively across functions and demonstrates respect for others.
• High level of ownership and accountability, with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and upscale issues appropriately.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured, fact-based approach to decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Strong digital proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications, Power Apps, and other digitalization or automation tools. Knowledge on relevant AI tools will be a strong plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and present ideas and recommendations clearly and persuasively.
• Proactive and self-driven, with the initiative to identify opportunities and implement improvements.
• Positive learning mindset, adaptable to change, and committed to continuous personal and professional development.
• Demonstrates behaviours aligned with the Volvo Values – Customer Success, Trust, Passion, Change, and performance.
• Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in additional Asian languages is an advantage, as the role involves close collaboration with colleagues across the Lyon & International region.
