Job summary

BERNHARD SCHULTE SHIPMANAGEMENT (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. is seeking a Technical Superintendent to oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of assigned vessels, blending shore support with on-board guidance.

You will lead maintenance planning, inspections, and budgets while ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous improvement within our management system. Container vessel experience and a mechanical/electrical/marine engineering background are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Chief Engineer qualification is required.
• 3 years of sailing experience as Senior Officer or 3 years shore experience as Technical Superintendent.
• Container vessels experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control technical performance of vessels to ensure safety, efficiency and compliance.
• Maintain communication with clients and support operational needs.
• Provide technical and operational support, including troubleshooting for performance improvement.
• Develop and oversee maintenance and repair plans, including drydock activities.
• Prepare, monitor and report vessel budgets for cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with maritime legislation, safety regulations and certifications.
• Plan and execute vessel inspections and audits to improve standards.
• Promote health, safety, environmental, and quality policies onboard.
• Mentor sea staff, identify training needs, and provide onboard training.
• Manage purchasing activities and timely ship requisitions.
• Drive continuous improvement within the Company Management System.
