Job summary

M.T.M. Ship Management Pte Ltd is seeking a seasoned Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical management of assigned tanker vessels in Singapore. You will ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation in line with company policies, class rules, and SOLAS/MARPOL conventions.

You will lead maintenance planning, supervise dry dockings, audits, and vessel budgets, providing guidance to Chief Engineers and onboard teams while upholding the company’s Safety Management System.

Qualifications

• Qualified Engineer with experience as Chief Engineer.
• At least 2 years of experience as Technical Superintendent in a reputable shipping company.
• Strong understanding of operations and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the technical performance and condition of assigned vessels.
• Ensure proper implementation of the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
• Provide technical guidance and support to vessel Chief Engineers and onboard technical teams.
• Ensure machinery, equipment, and systems are maintained to company and industry standards.
• Ensure vessels comply with class requirements, statutory regulations, and international conventions including SOLAS, MARPOL, and Flag State requirements.
• Coordinate class surveys, statutory inspections, and dry dockings.
• Monitor validity of vessel certificates and ensure timely renewals.
• Plan and supervise dry dockings, repairs, and technical upgrades.
• Coordinate repair works, contractors, and service providers.
• Monitor project progress, quality of work, and adherence to schedule.
• Prepare and manage vessel technical budgets and repair estimates.
• Monitor technical expenditures and ensure cost control within approved budgets.
• Review and approve technical requisitions and purchase requests.
• Support the implementation of the Company’s Safety Management System.
• Participate in technical incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Monitor technical defects, failures, and preventive actions to improve reliability.
• Prepare vessel for PSC, SIRE, CDI and any external 3 rd party inspections
