Technical Sales Advisor
The Technical Sales Advisor serves as the primary technical and commercial resource for customers and internal stakeholders, combining deep technical knowledge of HMH equipment and processes with strong commercial acumen to improve customer experience, drive revenue growth, and support sales strategies.
Responsibilities
- Technical & Customer Engagement
- Maintain a deep understanding of HMH equipment, systems, and operational processes.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers and internal teams.
- Improve overall customer experience through proactive technical support and solution development.
- Engage regularly with customers to identify needs, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Identify areas of improvement for customers and propose value‑adding technical solutions.
- Generate insightful quarterly customer reports based on field data, performance, and feedback.
- Provide guidance on warranty claims and sales concessions.
- Data & Market Intelligence
- Collect, validate, and organize data from daily field reports.
- Interpret technical and operational data and translate it into valuable insights.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and product innovations.
- Transfer Voice of Customer (VOC) insights internally to guide impactful initiatives.
- Sales Strategy & Business Development
- Develop and execute sales strategies to meet revenue and growth objectives.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in existing and new markets.
- Support white‑space mapping to identify new solution opportunities and expansion areas.
- Assist in the bid generation process, acting as a technical presence in operations and commercial meetings.
- Support major commercial pursuits with technical expertise, competitive insights, and solution positioning.
- Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Support
- Collaborate with P&T, engineering, and product teams to tailor solutions to customer requirements.
- Support all regions with technical and specialist sales expertise, aligning with CTO and product organizations.
- Work with regional sales teams to enable execution while presenting a unified global approach.
- Ensure consistent communication and alignment across regions to avoid fragmented engagement.
- Global Accounts & Team Enablement
- Coordinate support for major multinational and global accounts, ensuring a "one face" approach across regions.
- Contribute to unified global account strategies covering pricing, upgrades, and solution positioning.
- Act as a technical expert for specific equipment, product lines, or vertical markets as assigned.
- Enable and support regional technical sales resources as needed.
- Leadership & Performance Management
- Mentor and manage members of the technical sales organization as applicable.
- Monitor individual and team performance against objectives and recommend improvements.
- Support training initiatives to strengthen technical and commercial capabilities.
- Promote a collaborative team culture focused on shared success and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 12 years of relevant experience).
- Proven experience in technical sales, commercial, engineering, service account management, field service engineering, and/or operations roles within relevant industries.
- Strong understanding of technical equipment, systems, and customer operational environments.
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical information into commercial value propositions.
- Willingness to travel (up to 50%) to support customers and regional teams.
